LIQUOR SHED NEWS February 2018
RAVE REVIEWS – 18.7/20, 95/100
$21.99ea / $19.99ea for six
Only beaten out by a $200 wine, the 2017 Harewood Estate Porongurup Riesling received exceptional praise in Australian Wine Review’s Top Ten Rieslings this summer. Here’s what Andrew Graham from AWR had to say about it:
“… a wine of purity. There’s this cyclone of taut lime juice flavours here that just flood your mouth, the acidity high but not sharp, the freshly-bottled, pure citrus flavours so perfectly represent young, exuberant Great Southern Riesling.”
Drinking Best: It will age well over the next few years, but why wait?
Be quick – this wine is selling out everywhere!
WINNER – BEST ALTERNATIVE RED
$26.99ea / $24.99ea for six
Taking out Best Red Other Classes at the 2017 Adelaide Hills Wine Show is a huge result for Brackenwood’s Gamay-Pinot Noir.
Handled with delicacy and care throughout the entire winemaking process, this wine is a great summer red given its light-medium bodied style and bouquet of cherry, strawberry and raspberry notes. A hint of violets and spicy clove on the palate, this is a fun easy drinker with a silky texture and lingering flavours.
Located in Adelaide Hills, Brackenwood pride themselves on their bio-dynamic principles and minimal intervention in their winemaking, allowing them to capture regional character and vintage variation for a truly localised flavour experience.
Drinking Best: This summer!
CRAFT BEER REVIEW
FOX HAT BREWING (SA)
Fox Hat Brewing are quiet achievers that seem to fly under radar of many craft beer enthusiasts, and their “Red Pelt” India Red Ale is definitely a beer that does not often get the recognition it most definitely deserves.
Fox Hat’s Red Pelt is everything that a red ale should be – intense hop bitterness that is flawlessly balanced against an amazingly smooth malt-driven backbone. The luscious, velvety mouthfeel and incredible composition of flavours hides the higher ABV perfectly.
As Fox Hat say themselves, “if this beer could talk, it would be banging on about how good it is”.
