Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs 2008

From the vine to the glass, the wine year 2008 is placed under the sign of the exception. The winter was very cold and long, with low rainfall. Spring was mild and damp, with little sunshine.
The plants flowered in the first fortnight of June, whilst temperatures were still fairly cool. Ripening was rather slow and even, accompanied by fairly cool temperatures and some rain. The harvest took place from 15 September to 10 October in the sun, at relatively cool temperatures, which meant that the grapes were mature and very healthy. Characteristics of this wine : freshness, tension, purity, salinity, finesse and aromatic precision.

The colour shows considerable, youthful brilliance over pale yellow hues with a few subtle hints of green. The bubbles are fine, creamy and delicate, almost imperceptible.. The nose of this Comtes de Champagne 2008 is profound, precise and crystalline. It demonstrates incredible freshness and minerality. This aromatic purity is the true expression of the chalky soils from which it comes, giving us that very airy impression of delicate tension. Delineated, complex and restrained at the same time, the nose of this 2008 vintage carries us away on aromas of pear, lime, white pepper and orange blossom, skilfully paired with slightly licoricey, toasted notes. In the mouth, it offers an organoleptic journey of great aromatic finesse, leading to a tension and persistent minerality. The 2008 vintage is a Comtes de Champagne at its purest, frankest, most intense. With the vintage delivering a wonderful balance between finesse and concentration, you will be delighted by its aromas of white fruits, grapefruit and menthol over a delicately honeyed end note. Time has done its work over 12 years of slow maturation in the cellars, meaning that this Comtes comes to us with outstanding energy and ageing potential. Perfectly poised to write the next chapter in its history.
